We liked each other instantaneously.

the happy couple

"He's waiting in the shadows and will be there by the end of the year," so said my friend, Joyce, a self-described reader. I don't consult readers and psychics so I took Joyce's words as fun on that August 2007 night, as a group of sistas enjoyed dinner and shared our individual hopes and dreams for romance. The next month, an impromptu trip to New York from Florida set the stage for that prediction being fulfilled.
I joined BlackSingles in January 2007 after trying a number of other dating sites during the previous year. Idcook arrived on BSC a few months earlier. Having each discovered the message boards, we subsequently spotted each other. After a few months of curious fascination from the sidelines, in April 2007, we began to communicate with an occasional friendly email.
One day out of sheer boredom I booked a flight to New York to surprise my family. As we do on BSC, when I announced my plans, three New Yorkers raised their hand to greet me in their city. In the end, my schedule only worked out with meeting idcook. After several changes to our plan, we finally agreed that he would take the train to my hometown and join me at a family barbecue. The moment he stepped off that train from Manhattan, our eyes and smiles validated the attraction we felt in our cyber world. We liked each other instantaneously. We spent a fun-filled day with about 20 members of my extended family in the New York countryside. A favorite memory of that wondrous day is the quiet time of sitting on a hillside together, half-heartedly watching farm animals just below the hill as we began to reveal more intimate pieces of ourselves. Not only did we enjoy a compatible sense of humor, we discovered shared values and similar childhood experiences. Later that night as he boarded the train back to the city, we knew at the very least, that we would be best friends for life. We stayed in touch through email and phone calls.

As the December days began ticking away, I teased Joyce about her prediction and threatened to have her reader card revoked. "Oh, just be patient," she said, "The year is not over yet." Friend Toni kept saying, "It's idcook. I'm telling you. It's idcook." "No, I don't think so," I would sigh. While we chatted every day, we didn’t seem to be moving beyond more than friendship.

Just as I decided to take a break from hunting for Mr. Right-For-Me, idcook asks for a New Years Eve date. He'll fly to Orlando. I was ecstatic!
It was New Year’s Eve 2007, 6:00 p.m. when I stood face-to-face with him for the second time. We both knew without a doubt, this was more than a fellow BSCer’s friendly meet-n-greet. Joyce was right; he was definitely here by the end of the year…with 6 hours to spare. Our reunion date was dinner followed by the customary New Year’s celebratory fireworks. At midnight with the fireworks bursting into the air over our heads, we shared our first real kiss.

In September 2009, two years from the date we met, we decided to marry. He relocated to Florida, and on October 2, 2009, we vowed “forever” to each other in a beautiful garden ceremony.

I was a member on BlackSingles until 2007. I met my husband on your site. Joining your site was the best thing I ever did!!! When I met David on BlackSingles, he paid my way to Austria to see him. He is such a nice man. We met the first time in November of 2007. He treats me like a Queen.
We go to church, he cooks for me, waits on me hand and foot.

Thank you BlackSingles!

We couldn't be happier...

the happy couple

We both paid for the service and met about one week later. I saw that he had viewed my page, so I sent him a spark, which led to a heated discussion about the Lakers...go figure. But, we instantly hit it off that first day exchanging messages. The second day we exchanged numbers and have been going strong since. He lives in Southern California, and I'm in the Bay Area, so the distance isn't terrible, and we've done our best dealing with it. In fact, the first day we met in person was really special. It was election day, and we were talking about how great it would be to see Obama win together. He found a flight an hour later and flew out for our very first date. Sure enough, Obama won, and we were both so moved. That was such a profound moment for our country, and thinking back at it now, I can't imagine spending that moment with anybody else. Hands down, best first date ever!

It's been almost a year now since we first met and we're now having discussions about relocating. We have only you to thank...so THANK YOU. We couldn't be happier, and are excited to continue moving forward together.

You provide a wonderful service!

Thanks,

Talia

I never thought that I would find happiness like I have...

the happy couple

I've never been one to get on a dating website. I kept getting mail from BlackSingles, so one day I decided to try it out. I joined BlackSingles on July 16, 2006 for one month. The last day that my contract was to end I met my true love, which was on August 16 around 8:30 pm. I only had a couple of hours left. I IM'ed him and he did not response back right away. Then later on he response back to me. He gave me his phone number and we had a long talk. Then after a couple of days we met. He was everything that I wanted in a man. After 3 months we moved in together. We have been together for 2 years. Then on my birthday
July 18, 2008, he surprised me in bed with breakfast and had an engagement ring on the handle of a fork. Of course I accepted. We are very happy. We got married on April 17, 2009. Thank you BlackSingles! I never thought that I would find happiness like I have with Khamil. I have the best husband that I could ever ask for. We will be together 3 years on August 16, 2009. For anyone that does not believe that you can find your mate on BlackSingles, I am telling you that you can. Thanks again!

Two worlds working to become one...

the happy couple

After much hesitation, I decided to try online dating. I always stated my status as looking for friends, because to me a strong relationship should focus on a solid friendship first. Additionally, I wasn't sure if I truly was ready to date. So, not to give anyone false hope, I never said I was dating, just looking for friends, this in my opinion would reduce the possibilities of pressure.

Well, after a few months of conversations and a few unhopefuls, I met someone. My new love interest came when I really had become unhopeful. Had I never created a profile on BlackSingles, I honestly feel our paths would never have crossed. It took us a minute to finally meet in person, but once we met ...I instantly felt the first flutter within my heart. It was like I had an instant crush and I felt he could possibly be my soulmate; but my thoughts were, "Slow down, better be careful...sometimes things are too good to be true."

We first made contact on BlackSingles in October of 2007, met in person in March of 2008; now some months later we have become a couple. We decided we will walk and not run, continue to get to know each other and fortify our castle together, while strengthening our relationship and its future. Today, we have agreed to be committed to each other and work towards that next level all relationships aspire to. Two worlds working to become one...may God bless us and maybe this time next year "Stong_Willed" and "Canwetalkmydear" will be Mr & Mrs.
